Everyone is an expert at something. BarCamp allows creatives, technologists, scientists, programmers, and bloggers the chance to gather together and share new ideas. It's about passion, creating community, and exploring new social media. The difference between a traditional conference, and an un-conference like BarCamp is that BarCamps allow people to interact with speakers throughout the presentations. At a traditional conference the best ideas originate in the hallways and corridors. BarCamp is all corridor

Barcamp Auckland is a free event that is held to encourage and refresh the web community in New Zealand. It does this by encouraging the discussion (by every attendee) about design and development ideas, concepts or theories as well as practical design and development skills and examples. See photos of past events.
New Zealand web development is in danger of becoming stagnant and commercial and we want to sustain this passion for design by holding such an un-conference in New Zealand every year. We want NZ designers and developers to enjoy working on the web and to want to learn and expand their understanding of the accessible, semantic, standards based and social web.
